Civil War

I said last week that South Africa will be lucky to avoid civil war. Well, that civil war appears to be getting closer. It appears as if the Zulu nation would rather live with apartheid than accept democracy, and along with it, a government headed by the ANC. This week the South African government announced a state of emergency in Natal Province and is sending troops to keep the peace and protect the voting. The New York Times article in Tuesday's paper (March 29) contained the following:

"The South African Press Association said more than 150 people had been killed in Natal in the last 11 days, _including a baby snatched from its mother's arms and thrown into a burning house_." (emphasis added)

"A baby snatched from its mother's arms and thrown into a burning house?" If that kind of brutality is possible, can be lightly explained away, I can't imagine how civil war is not only possible, but inel take principle any day.
